Not officially diagnosed, but I have looked up the symptoms myself and concluded it to be sciatica. I have a mild case. I am 29 and in decent shape. The only concern is that the pain comes and goes but on a month to month basis. I joined a gym for about a 2 week period and my back felt the best when I was working out. Sometimes it can be disappear months. My only concern is this flaring up during BCT. Is this something I should be worried about?

My friend if yo have not been officially diagnosed, then it will not DQ you from the service. If you join and it flares up in BCT, then you will be sent to the hospital. If you are not able to complete BCT training, you will be discharge for medical reasons. Im not telling you what to do, but if you plan to join, i would do so before you are officially diagnosed. There is a chance it may not flare up and you can have a great Military Career. You are joining at a late age, so there are a lot of things that can go against you during training, but the only way to find out is JUST DO IT! I just retired this year at 39. Good luck to you whatever decide.
