I get back pain during the daytime when I walk or stand for 20 minutes or longer. What bed would relieve that pain? Not a memory foam mattress though! It costs too much!
I also want one that’s comfortable too!

the best mattress for back problems is a firm one, not soft.

I agree firm is best. I know you said foam is expensive, but believe me it’s the best. I had back surgery in November and I had a pillow top mattress I couldn’t lay on my back when I was on that bed. I had to shell out the money for a foam mattress, which I actually got on sail and was cheaper then the regular mattresses, and now I can sleep on my back and my back feel so much better. Honestly look around, if you are just looking for a mattress and not a box spring with it you might be able to get a good deal on a foam mattress. I got mine at Mattress Discounters, I paid about $500 for a queen Tempur Pedic mattress. That was cheaper then the regular mattress they had.

I agree with the other poster in this answer who says the foam mattress is affordable, comfortable, and great for relieving back pain. You can find a quality foam mattress for well under $700. Just add a bed platform to get the mattress off the floor and up to a height that doesn’t screw up your back getting into it.
Stay away from foam toppers — they don’t have the support you need.
