I’ve been having serious back pain lately, and it is excruciating. It is worse in my lower back area, but it still hurts everywhere. I sleep with a heating pad every night but it still doesn’t ease the pain when I wake up. It helps only for about twenty minutes, and then the pain comes again. Any tips?
PS- Other than tylenol though. I can’t take it with some of my other meds because it interacts with them.

I see from your picture that you are very young. I am worried about such severe pain in someone so young and without being able to do an exam or take a history, I must recommend that you go see a medical specialist.

You need a doctor, but you know that. Otherwise I find the best thing for back pain is stretches and gentle exercise. I know it sounds dumb, but the more you lie down on it, usually the worse it gets. Gentle stretching, some walking, and then you need to strengthen the muscles in your back so that they can better support any injury you have. The stronger your back is, the better it can cope. Within a couple of days of this it should improve a little, within a couple of weeks of strengthening your back, it should really improve. But always be gentle with it, no sit ups or giant weights. Good luck, back pain is really awful.

Do you sit in front of a computer a lot? You may need a seat cushion or egronomic chair, but there could be a medical condition behind the back pain like a herniated disc or scoliosis. Check out http://www.backandneckpainresources.com, or a site like that for info.
