@unknownfallenangell yes, stretching before you develop a problem is the key. It is a very important stretch. Thanks!

The stretch was a little difficult/uncomfortable to execute at first. I did it slowly and in small increments. It took about 10 minutes but i got so much relief from this movement. i’m impressed. Thank you

That’s really bad for your knee. A better stretch: take a deep lunge where one knee is bent in a 90 degree angle over the ankle and place the opposite knee on the ground, keeping your hips over your pelvis. Sink or slide the knee to deepen the stretch. It’s all the psoas muscles.

@TheZhongzheng It is safe for the knees but if someone has knee pain they can put their foot on a chair or bench to achieve the same stretch without putting too much stress on the knee. Hope that helps….

I am a martial arts teacher and train very hard. My lower back has been sore for six weeks. I have done some yoga stretches and they ease the pain but it keeps returning in the morning. I have just tried your stretch and it has eased this mornings pain.i was wondering about the front knee going beyond the toes so far. This is a sin in Tai Chi Chuan but that is of course when one is in a standing position. Is this stretch safe for the knees?

Hi. Can I still go running. I’m used to running 3-5 miles a day. Also is it o.k to use the elliptical machine? I really need help and have no money for a doctor. Before I was laid off my doctor said I have a herniated disk. I’m depressed and desperate for exercise and help.
